I have been wanting to get my own mascot for Charles Hamel.com for the longest of time. There are a lot of great character designers on the web, but the problem for me is I didn’t have enough money to pay for their excellent services. So what does Charles Hamel do… he sets out to learn how to make his own.

I have always been fairly decent in drawing and art, but not great, but I knew enough to slowly work on something and keep tweaking it until I came up with something I liked. So over the last month I have been thinking of an original character that I would like to design. My first requirements is that it had to be a cute anime character.

I looked around the Internet to get some ideas and was really drawn to the chibi style of characters. Chibi are deformed anime characters with large heads and eyes, but are so cute and Moe. I have always thought that the gothic/emo scene was very stylish in it’s own way, so a gothic Chibi was the direction.

After working on the sketch I scanned it into the computer and started learning how to do line art and digital coloring with photoshop, it was a lesson in frustration but luckily knowing my way around photoshop it wasn’t that bad.

So without further ado, I would like to introduce Charles Hamel.com’s new mascot.

And at the same time I would like to start a contest to give Charles Hamel.com’s new mascot a name. Here are the rules.

1. The name must be a Japanese name or if it is a cool name in English I can translate it to Japanese.

2. second rule is that you must subscribe to Charles Hamel.com’s RSS feed.

The contest deadline will be the 15th of November which will give everyone 3 weeks.

The prize will be the anime figure pictured below.

I will pick the name that I like the best, and will give a link to that persons blog or website, and of course send them the figure. Good Luck!

   KitsuMan PetchaPai.
   If my name is selected do I get the action figure?
   I can’t wait.
   Can I use it in the bathtub during those long cold winter nights?

   Ok now that I have picked myself off of the floor from laughing at your response, if you are the only entry I will hand deliver the prize to you, and you can use it any way you would like, but promise me you won’t give me the details. I can’t promise that I will use KitsuMan PetchaPai though lol.

   I think that really a fun name.But the current name is quit better.I hope evey one in the blog will be like it.
