Touhou Project Figure
Figma does it again with the announcement of their newest figure from the Touhou Project game. A little history on this game starting back in 1996 with “Highly Responsive to Prayers”. The game was developed for the NEC PC-9801 which was a Japanese microcomputer similar to the lap top. This machine remained the game developers platform of choice until the PC clone craze started.
The next game in the series was “Story of Eastern Wonderland (????? T?h? F?maroku)” , which was released in 1997 followed by “Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream (????? T?h? Yumejik?)” released in Dec 1997. Next came “Lotus Land Story (????? T?h? Gens?ky?)” in Aug 1998 with “Mystic Square (????? T?h? Kaikidan)” coming out in Dec 1998.
The gameplay was a shooter game in which the bullet power increased as the game went on. Bonuses were picked up for extra lives, the player also could use spell card which were similar to bombs. The main character in the game series is “Reimu Hakurei” who is the subject of the new Figma figure.
Reimu Hakurei is a demon killing priestess of the Hakurei Shrine. The figure was sculpted by Masaki Asai from the Max Factory company and is distributed through good smile in the figma line of products. The figure is 140mm in height and is fully posable coming with three different faces. Other accessories are a prayer rod, tea cup and a bottle of sake.
