It’s Raining Fish and Frogs
As the rainy season in Japan is nearing it’s end Ishikawa a prefecture in Honshu has been experiencing some strange showers, in fact it has been raining tadpoles.
The Ishikawa prefecture has reported that the tadpoles have fallen from the skies in two separate towns during the month of June. Now it is not unheard of waterspouts and heavy winds to suck up small fish and frogs from water and then in turn drop them on land, there has been no bad weather reported in the area.
The first time tadpoles were reported to have fallen from the sky was in the afternoon on June 4 in the town of Nanao. Residents after hearing strange sounds from outside went out to see roughly 100 dead tadpoles in an area that was around 300 square meters. The tadpoles that were found measured 2-3 centimeters long.
In the nearby town of Hakusan on June 6 in the early morning many more tadpoles fell. One resident described finding a handful of tadpoles on the hood of her car. Other tadpoles were found in nearby yards and parking lots. As in the first case a strange sound was reportedly heard in the middle of the night although there was no bad weather reported.
The Kanazawa Meteorological Observatory reports that the two towns are dotted with rice fields but experience stable weather during the June months, and there were no conditions that would account for waterspouts.
In an update to the story just a few days later in the nearby town of Nakanoto which is located about 15 kilometers from the tadpole incident, a large number of small fish were found scattered over a residential area.
The fish that were found appear to be of the Crucian carp species and were 3 to 5 centimeters in length.
Although this phenomenon is not unheard of it is definitely a rare occurrence. Fish and frogs seem to be the two most common types of animals that are reported in the strange incidents although birds have been reported also.
Sometimes the fish and frogs are healthy and alive which seems to suggest that they are dropped shortly after being picked up, while other times they have been completely frozen to death or encased in ice.
Surely another mystery to be solved. I would like to hear from the readers of Charles Hamel.com if they know of any instances of this phenomenon in their part of the world.

Thanks for the post. Wow, you opened a secret for us. Very good done! Fish and frogs are very funny! We should not forget that they are alive creatures
Yeah that is so weird. I think there’s something strange doing that things.
Raining tadpoles that is so unusual.
Could we consider it as the end of the World?
That is so unusual. Imagine its raining tadpoles so do you think it the end of the World?
this blog is one of the best blog.I believe you’re all forgetting that the null hypothesis in this kind of situation is paranormal phenomena. Or perhaps extraterrestrials. Until you have evidence supporting your ‘waterspout’ theory, we must continue to assume that this is true.

Your website is beautifully decorated and easily navigated. I have enjoyed visiting this site today and hope to visit many more times in the future.
Raining Fish:-The phenomenon can be explained simply: given strong enough winds, in thunderstorms for example, small whirlwinds and mini-tornadoes may form. When these travel over water any small items of debris in their path, such as fish or frogs, may be picked up and carried for up to several miles
I have admire your unselfishness in taking the time to make this web site.
Alas! what a wonderful report! there is red rain and yellow rain. I am hearing for the first time about the fish rain and frog rain.
