Missing Australian Man in Hirafu Hokkaido Japan
I have recently received a lot of news concerning a missing Australian man by the name of Scott McKay. Apparently the missing Aussie was last seen leaving a local ski resort bar four days ago. When I first heard of this story I automatically thought a skier had went missing, although after I researched the story a bit more, the facts surrounding the story is just bizarre.
Mr McKay left the bar to return to his accommodations, the strange thing is that the journey is just a bit over a kilometer away, and the walk is along a paved road, which should have been a very easy journey on foot, that would take about 10 minutes. Niseko has very low crime rates as most of Japan, so it is just perplexing.
Members of Mr McKay’s family, including his father, travelled to Japan and met Australian consular officials, to give what help they could in locating their son.
If any of the CharlesHamel.com readers are in the Hirafu area this week and can assist it would be much appreciated. The details of the search party for those who are interested:
Anzen (safety) Center next to the Hirafu Seicomart, as many volunteers as they can get, with snow gear and poles to feel around in deep snow. There is also a river crew starting a search in the surrounding creeks.
I will keep you updated as I find out more information on this strange disappearance.
