Helpful Internet Applications
The Internet continues to amaze me even after I have been online for almost 15 years, it just never gets old. It is amazing to see how new companies and people in general find new ways to implement new ideas in using the Internet. I mean it seems like just yesterday when we first started using the Internet for telephone… Now companies are offering Broadband telephone service in almost every state.
I love to keep up with technology and all of the new gadgets that are coming out on a daily basis, not to mention all of the services and companies that are implementing the Internet into what they have to offer to the public. There are tons of Helpful Internet Applications that require only an email and username and password. If you are like me, you have a special email address that you use to signup for all Internet related items. It tends to keep my spam down on my personal email account.
One of these Helpful Internet applications that I would like to speak of is Twitter. Twitter is a Free web 2.0 social networking application that keeps you in contact with the people that you want to be in contact with. I have also found that it is a great marketing tool also, used in the correct way. You can consider Twitter a micro blogging platform in a way. Twitter allows you to post messages (called tweets), up to 140 characters in length. So it is no long discussions, just short blurbs to your friends list. If you look to the right of this page you will see a Blue square with a white bird in it. This is my Twitter page and once you sign up you can add me to your friends list by clicking on the blue square on the right, and then clicking follow on my profile page. Then you will get all of my tweets.
Twitter allows you to receive updates via the Twitter website, text messages to your cell phone, through a RSS feed, or through email with 3rd party add-ons such as Twitterriffic or Facebook. I think that Twitter is a great service and is one that I am most impressed with as of late. You can expand your Twitter abilities with some awesome 3rd part add-ons, that will take your Twitter experience to all new levels.
Japan was just added to the Twitter network recently, but Twitter has been a hugely popular service despite not having the ability to send tweets in their native alphabet. Now that the Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji ability has been added, Japanese is the second most used language on Twitter next to English.
I highly suggest that you try out Twitter, and add me to your follow list to stay connected. I have included a list of Helpful Internet Applications that will enhance Twitter and that you might find interesting. Take Care all!
