Snow capped Asahidake

About five weeks back we got the first snow in Hokkaido which settled on the Mountain right outside my window called Asahidake.  And now on Election Day snowboarding weather is here!!  Last night before I went to bed I saw a reflection of something falling reflected in the street lights outside, it has been raining almost all week, so I just thought it was rain.  But on opening the window I was surprised to see a blanket of white everywhere.

Shortly afterwards I went to bed, and when we woke up this morning “Winter Wonderland” and for sure snowboarding weather has started.  It has been snowing all night, and is still at this time coming down pretty hard.  If I had to guess, I would say we have got about 4-5 inches so far.

Another important thing happened this week, and that was my wife and my wedding anniversary.  We have been married for a whopping 18 years, and been together for 19.5 years.  Seems like it was just yesterday, and I still feel like the same young man as I was when we first met, well almost the same young man. :)

A majority of the people who live here hate the winter season, but I have a feeling I am going to love it, maybe not the extreme cold so much, but the snow covering everything is just breathtaking.  The temps outside right now are about 34F (1C).  Cold but not unbearable, just bundle up and you will be just fine.  Meanwhile back in Texas where we moved from is Sunny and 79F (26C), but I think I will stay here. ;)

During the snow season here you must choose something to keep you busy, either an indoor activity, like some kind of craft or even an Internet activity to keep your mind busy.  Or you can choose some sort of outdoor activity like nordic walking, skiing or snowboarding, since snowboarding weather is here, I will choose to learn to snowboard.

All of the equipment that I need has been donated to me so far, including a snowboard, bindings, and a ski suit.  I also bought some snowboarding boots at a recycle shop for about $19 US, they are kind of well used, but will be fine for one season, and you can’t beat the price.

As far as my job is going, I am enjoying my work as a teacher immensely, I have so many awesome students, especially my adults in which I have really made some new great friends.  I love my children classes also, in fact they are the most fun to do, because I get to get up and just have a great time playing with them while incorporating English.  Getting paid to play with kids, what better job is there?

I have had more doors open to me since I have started as an English Teacher, and have added 2 more private lessons to my schedule.  At this time I have 11 classes per week (1 Hour each class), and want to add about 9 more classes in which I will be making a full time income with part time hours.  I am so lucky to have all of these opportunities fall into my lap.  But did they actually fall into my lap, or is it the Universe just delivering the things that I am manifesting with positive thoughts without worries?

The Internet Marketing that i have been dabbling in for the past few years is also slowly growing, and will also eventually equal a full time income.  With a little patience and positive thinking there is so much that we can accomplish, and it is so easy with the right mindset.  I have a plan in the future to write a E-Book on Internet Marketing from a spiritual perspective.  Let me know if this is something that you might be interested in.

I have rambled on enough for the day, now it is time to go out and enjoy the snowboarding weather. Take Care all.

-Thermals (really help in snowstorms but can get too hot if the suns out while you’re on the mountain!)
-Some old T-shirts (great for layering)
    -Some jumpers
    -A waterproof/windproof ski/snowboard jacket
    -Salopettes (Snowpants/Ski trousers same thing :P )
-A neck warmer (Best piece of kit because it really helps to keep your neck and face warm and very small so you can take it off and shove it in a pocket it you get too warm!)
-Goggles (or good sunglasses, preferably sports ones for when it’s not snowing because goggles can heat up your face.
-A beanie or a helmet (helmets are better in extremely cold weather such as snowstorms because they don’t get wet and then freeze to your head; I’m talking from experience, haha)

here is no such thing as snow clouds. Snow is the result of the air temperature. Not all birds go crazy before a snow, they go nuts anytime there is sudden change in temperature. Even in the summer. in the “olden days” people especially farmers used the sky to predict the weather. This was more accurate than all of the computer they use now.

Snow up to a point is good for your heat bill as it does add a insulating factor but there can be a point where there is to much snow. How much is to much, pay attention to other peoples roofs that are around yours if some start taking snow done maybe its time for yo to do the same. Also the almost all roofs in MN have been built with a snow load factor in, to support the extra weight. If the snow gets to be more than 2′ thick over the entire roof I would consider removing some of it.

Snow goggles! there are kinds that have fuzz around the eyes and those keep me warm. and the old trusty scarf. that should take care of you face. and as for gloves. get just some lame stretchy cloth ones and put you snowboarding gloves on over them. thats the best you can do. or they have these things called hand warmers. they look like big tea bags. you could fit those into your gloves. Thats more fun though.

As global warming increases then in Europe there is the worst snow in decades. That is strange.

I don’t buy into the global warming myth, it’s called the earth doing what it has always done.
