Stonehege Mystery Solved?

Stonehege Mystery Solved?

800px-Stonehenge_Closeup.jpg A five year study of the mysterious stonehenge has just concluded, carried out by Oxford University archaeologist Anthony Johnson. And the results?… A Sophisticated knowledge of geometry that rivals Pythagorus, 2000 years before he was born. The implications of the study is that the people who built it, had a better understanding of advanced mathematics and astronomy than modern man thought was possible.

The knowledge of this advanced geometry was thought to have been an arcane wisdom or magic that was known and passed down to only an elite few or secret society perhaps. Similar geometric knowledge has been found on gold artifacts found in prehistoric graves. So what was this secret knowledge and where did it originate from?

One of the most complex sections of Stonehenge is the 87 meter circle of chalk cut pits that mark the 56 sided polygon that is found immediately within the monuments perimeter. A 56 sided polygon became important in early European beliefs, dating back to ancient Greek classical mythology. The polygon has been associated with the conflict between Zeus and the weather god Typhon.

The structure is estimated to have been built around 2950BC, with the design planned and the stones carved offsite and then installed in it’s current position. Many people have theorized that Stonehenge was built for the purpose of astronomical observations, but Johnson thinks that it was merely a type of calendar measuring mid summer and mid winter solar solar alignments.

One thing that is clear to me is that from recent discoveries in the field of archaeology, the dates that we have previously come to know as the beginning of earth and mankind have been totally shattered. With recent findings of ancient egyptian artifacts in the Grand Canyon, previous theories have been challenged with physical evidence stating otherwise.

It truly is a fascinating planet that we live on, and more mysteries will reveal themselves as our technologies advance. Fringe science is a subject that I can study without end, because it opens new lines of thinking that have not been considered before. Next time you hear of a story that is on the edge of unbelievable, don’t be so quick to poo poo it away, for tomorrows technologies just might prove it as fact. Take Care my friends!

    Hi Charles,

Not a calendar, note that press reports sometimes become distorted. I see it as a major architectural work which employs elegantly simple and empirically learnt geometric rules to create a work of mirrored symmetry. I don’t know, and nor does anyone else why they needed this precision, or what it represents. The key is the rope and peg survey methods, used as one might use a geometry set. Square and circle geometry seems to be very important from the outset some 500 years before the Stones were introduced. From these methods you can get 5, 6, 10, 30 and 56 sided polygons quite easily. In later periods the geometry is very precise and sophisticated, as shown by the iconic geometric artifacts being made just before the last structural changes were made at Stonehenge. Different human beings hold different views about the mysteries of Stonehenge. A consensus understood among Scientists and non-Scientists is: “agree to disagree.” Some people believe this spiritual place is a key crosssection point for grids of energy. Unexplained sightings and experiences corroborate energy theories. Few Scientists will dabble in or legitimize such paranormal views.

Thanks for the comments Aj and Liara

Stonehenge is truly a mystery and perhaps we will never know the real truth behind this structure. AJ I have read about what you were talking about in making the complex shapes with a rope attached to a central point. What was this for though, was it just to display a complex shape or was there a purpose for it?

Liara I have read a lot about earth’s lay lines, and maybe it was built on that spot to designate a cross point of natural energy points, this is a common belief I have had also for the purpose of various monolithic structures around our great planet.

Charles, geographic locations which are widely considered very spiritual have been designated by humans who claim to share in collective experiences at these places. You may have heard examples like Machu Pichu (Peru), Stonehenge (UK), Teotihuacan (Mexico), Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Pyramids (Egypt), varied places in Tibet/ Nepal/ India. Certain experiences are not easily translated into words or scientific explanations. You may be interested in reading spiritual views about changes in the world and views about 2012.

    Hi Charles,

more details about the ‘peg and rope’ geometry, and a few speculations about meanings, can be found in a recent article: see http://precedings.nature.com/documents/2153/version/1

there are many speculations as to what the use of stone hedge was used for. i think it is awsome that it was made when it was and it is still standing.

So I think that stonehenge is pretty amazing I think that it is so beautiful I hope that one day we can figure out its true purpose
