Life is Just a Bunch of Choices
The name of this Blog is “On the Path“, this can mean a lot of things to different people. On the path to enlightenment, On the path to salvation, On the Path to wisdom, On the path to a enriching life. Life is a path, there are long and short paths, smooth and rocky paths, straight and crooked paths and downhill and uphill paths. We as humans always have a tendency to travel the paths of least resistance, even though they might be the crooked, uphill, long and rocky ones.
The many varied paths may lead us to fame and fortune, poverty and isolation or peace and bliss. Just like any other paths there are crossroads where we must make important choices, choices which will determine events in the future. Of course there are no guarantees, and we never really may know where the path will lead us until we are halfway down it.
Now in life the things that many fail to realize is that just by choosing the right thing will not necessarily guarantee happiness. We may choose to love someone with all of our hearts, and find that that person does not return the same feelings. Achieving fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness, we see this in Hollywood on a daily basis.
There are many possible outcomes to the choices that we make, the only control that we have are the choices that we make, and then the reaction that we will have to the outcomes of our choices. Of course wrong choices are always hindsight, and you know the old saying hindsight is 20-20.
Of course if we had known what the outcome of our decisions would be, our choices would always be right. Realizing that there is no guarantee to the choices we make, as long as we understand this and are willing to take responsibility for the results, we can move forward on the path. A far worse plan of action would not to choose anything and stay stagnant and not move on the path.
Life is about taking risks and following our dreams. Yes I understand that certain paths can get us far off of the road, but they might also open up new opportunities. We don’t have to make choices blindly, it is important to be informed as much as possible and weigh the consequences pro and con. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? What is the worst thing that can happen? What is the best thing that can happen? and then make our decision.
Trust yourself, but most importantly, listen to your Intuition. When we choose from the heart, we will be making the correct choices more than 50% of the time. Most importantly be prepared to accept responsibility for the choices you make, and to not let them discourage you. Even with the non desired outcome we will have opportunities to learn. Even with wrong choice we have the ability to gain wisdom. Take care my friends.
