Is Fluoride Dangerous
Did you know that fluoride is one of the basic ingredients in the anti depressant Prozac and in the Deadly gas Sarin that killed 12 people on the Tokyo Subway in 1995. Sodium Fluoride is a hazardous waste by product from the manufacturing of aluminum. It also is a ingredient commonly found in rat and roach poisons, anesthetics, and military nerve gasses. It has been a thorn in the side of companies wanting to dispose of the substance due to high costs associated with hazardous waste.
But hey I got this great idea! Lets convince the public it is good for them, markup the price by 20,000% and inject it into the water supply and let people ingest it. I mean come on thats a great way to get rid of it, Don’t you think? Fluoride is injected into our water system at .1 part per million, and since we only drink 1/2 of one percent of the total water supply, the rest will go down the drain ensuring a Free Hazardous Waste Disposal for the Chemical Industry. What a Bargain!
Depending on what study you read, fluoride shortens life span, promotes cancer, accelerates osteoporosis and fragile hips in the elderly, and basically makes us docile and subservient, all in one neatly wrapped package. Now I know that I will hear rebuttal’s, there is no proof that fluoride is bad for us, scientists have proven that it is good for our teeth, Blah Blah Blah. Then tell me why over 90% of the worlds countries do not add fluoride to their water?
Many say the cause of Alzheimer’s Disease is possibly aluminum in the brain, could this have a connection between fluoride being a by product of aluminum production? When you want to find out the answers to many of the questions I have put forth, most of the time all you need to do is follow the money. You know what they say, if you are told the same lie again and again, people start to believe it. Yes! Fluoride is good for you! No there are no harmful side effects!
The real reason behind water fluoridation is not to benefit children’s teeth. If this were the real reason there are many ways in which it could be done that are much easier, cheaper, and far more effective. Even in small quantities, sodium fluoride is a deadly poison to which no effective antidote has been found. Sodium fluoride is entirely different from organic calcium-fluoro-phosphate needed by our bodies and provided by nature. This organic calcium-fluoro-phosphate, derived from proper foods, is an edible organic salt, insoluble in water and assimilable by the human body, whereas the non-organic sodium fluoride used in fluoridating water is instant poison to the body and fully water soluble. The body refuses to assimilate it.
I challenge you all to research this subject and find out the answers for yourself, it is all laid out on the Web for all to read. Don’t listen to the same old spill that we kept getting fed about it’s benefits. I don’t know about you but I refuse to ingest it, and I make sure my kids and my wife do not either.

Great post. Last year my wife and I had an argument with our doctor about having our young sons taking a fluoride supplement. Basically, we’re on a well and not a public water system and he wanted us to give them fluoride drops. We did the research and refused and, long story short, we found a new doctor. It’s funny how doctors will push fluoride even with all the information out there about its negative effects. Keep up the good work on your site.
Fluorine gas is also routinely used to etch windows so they appear frosted. People don’t necessarily make the connection between toxic materials and how routine practices cause them to forget what they ingest could be a different form with similar, detrimental effects.
This article offers an intriguing perspective. It reminds be a bit of the impact of the film, Erin Brockavitch. People may initially refuse to believe they have reason to question water purity and possible contamination. The whole concept is initially regarded with disbelief.
One curious thing to ask yourself is why the ‘mountain spring water’ industry has taken off with such momentum. Increasingly, people are alienated from their own tap water. Why might this be? It may relate to more than the supposed, bitter after taste and undesirables seeping into ground water. Who started this ’spring water’ industry? What do upper level executives know about other water that we don’t? The true origins of water offer some information, but other answers remain a mystery without more thorough investigation.
This is an insightful article, and I believe can’t be said too many times as people still aren’t listening.
There is also the forced medication aspect of the whole scenario, if I was stupid enough to choose to ingest this industrial waste, then I would accept the consequences, however I do not choose to do so, but still have to accept the consequences.
This takes away my right to think for myself, and all in the name of science.
In a statement first released August 9, 2007, over 1,600 professionals urge Congress to stop water fluoridation until Congressional hearings are conducted. Signers include a Nobel Prize winner, three members of the prestigious 2006 National Research Council (NRC) panel that reported on fluoride’s toxicology, two officers in the Union representing professionals at EPA headquarters, the President of the International Society of Doctors for the Environment, and hundreds of medical, dental, academic, scientific and environmental professionals, worldwide.
Signer Dr. Arvid Carlsson, winner of the 2000 Nobel Prize for Medicine, says, “Fluoridation is against all principles of modern pharmacology. It’s really obsolete.”

“The NRC report dramatically changed scientific understanding of fluoride’s health risks,” says Paul Connett, PhD, Executive Director, Fluoride Action Network. “Government officials who continue to promote fluoridation must testify under oath as to why they are ignoring the powerful evidence of harm in the NRC report,” he added.
The Professionals’ Statement also references:
– The new American Dental Association policy recommending infant formula NOT be prepared with fluoridated water.
– The CDC’s concession that the predominant benefit of fluoride is topical not systemic.
– CDC data showing that dental fluorosis, caused by fluoride over-exposure, now impacts one third of American children.
– Major research indicating little difference in decay rates between fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities.
– A Harvard study indicating a possible link between fluoridation and bone cancer.
– The silicofluoride chemicals used for fluoridation are contaminated industrial waste and have never been FDA- approved for human ingestion.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a DC watchdog, revealed that a Harvard professor concealed the fluoridation/bone cancer connection for three years. EWG President Ken Cook states, “It is time for the US to recognize that fluoridation has serious risks that far outweigh any minor benefits, and unlike many other environmental issues, it’s as easy to end as turning off a valve at the water plant.”
Further, researchers reporting in the Oct 6 2007 British Medical Journal indicate that fluoridation, touted as a safe cavity preventive, never was proven safe or effective and may be unethical. (1)
In New York State, Cobeskill stopped 54 years of fluoridation in 2007, the Central Bridge Water District stopped fluoridation in 2006, Homer in 2005, Canton in 2003. Oneida rejected fluoridation in 2002. Ithaca rejected fluoridation in 2002. Johnstown rejected it in 1999. Before that several towns in Nassau County stopped fluoridation. Suffolk County rejected fluoridation in the 1990’s.
On October 2, 2007 Juneau Alaska voters rejected fluoridation despite the American Dental Association’s $150,000 political campaign to return fluoride into the water supply after the legislative body voted it out.
