Book Recommendations

I often get asked from visitors to my Blog if I have any Book Recommendations for them, so I decided to post this as an article to benefit everyone instead of answering each email. Besides if one person wants to know, usually there are others who also are interested in books that they might not know about. I will stick with the theme of Spiritual Inspiration for this post, and maybe do some more posts of this type with different themes.

The first book that I would like to mention is “Three Cups of Tea” a best seller that explains the adventures of Greg Mortenson’s life work in Asia. This story deals with issues of religion and spiritual aspirations as his crusade takes him through the volatile areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Mr. Mortenson has established more than 60 schools, despite many acts of violent opposition. A lot of his work is controversial among some of the local groups in the area, because he made it a point to make sure that women were able to get an education.

Three Cups of Tea

This book is truly an inspirational story of one man’s effort to answer poverty, provide education for girls, and overcome major cultural hurdles. The story is told by David Oliver Revin and spent 16 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List. I encourage you all not to miss this book.

Another great book that I recommend for Inspiration is “On My Journey Now” by Nikki Giovanni a poet and extremely talented writer for young people. On My Journey Now takes a look at African American history through a spiritual perspective. The book is a short read and includes one part exploration and one part personal reflection. It answers the question of how enslaved Africans retained their sanity through songs of hope and Inspiration.

Another great read that will leave a good feeling in your heart. If any of the visitors to this Blog would like to see some books that they liked or would like to share with others, I will be happy to check it out and write up a post about it.

Thank you for these two reviews - these look some interesting books that I might want to read. Although honestly, ever since I started using the Internet as an information source, I seldom read actual printed books anymore. But it might be nice to return to the “dark ages” occasionally :)

Your very welcome Karl

I know what you are saying about the Internet, usually when I get off my computer I am ready to drop, and if I try to read, I end up reading the same page about 5 times before crashing.

Reading in the morning is better. :)

Thanks for your comments and your always welcome here!
