Our story starts with Ed Leedskalnin, 26 who was distraught after his sweet 16 year old fiancee left him on the eve of his wedding. Ed, heart broken wandered the country distraught traveling to Canada and Europe before settling in Florida City, near Miami.

On his travels in Europe Ed was fascinated by the landscapes and the architecture of the castles that were in abundance. Taking inspiration from this he came up with a romantic idea to build a castle for his lost love in hopes of winning her back. He would build a castle for Agnes and send her pictures, displaying his un-dying love in hopes of winning her affection again.

Working only from midnight to sunrise so that no one could see how he moved the great coral stones weighing more than those of the Great Pyramid, Ed built Coral Castle for Agnes. When he finished it, he gave tours, telling his visitors that he was “waiting for Agnes“.

Now some might not think that this story is not far from strange until you learn the details about Coral Castle. Ed built this castle without any help. In fact he only worked at night so he would not be observed. How could this man move and shape these 1000’s of tons of rock all by himself? It still remains a mystery, although there are many theories of how he accomplished this amazing feat.

Many strange things happened to Ed and his family leading up to the building of coral castle. One month before Ed was born a psychic told his mother that her child is a returning spirit from the Legendary Atlantis, and that he would astound the world, by bringing back the ancient, lost science once used in building the Great Pyramids. On a visit to Honduras, a group of Mayan Indians told Ed’s Grandfather Nick that, thousands of years ago, their ancestors were visited by “men from the sky” beings who gave them the “secrets of the pyramids.” Nick explained to Ed that the Mayans told him that “a race of alien beings existed on the earth at the time of Atlantis; that the aliens were once “spirit beings” who came down to mate with the beautiful earth women, and that once they came, they were now trapped in a human form and could only escape the body through death. (You will find a variation of this explanation in the Bible at Genesis 6). Ed encounters these “men from the sky” beings in his dreams as he seeks knowledge on how he was able to break the secret code of the Great Pyramid.

I find many mysteries fascinating and this is definitely one of them. For all our modern knowledge, advances in science and technology, there is so much in this world of ours that remains unexplained. Several children were alleged to have snuck up on Ed while he was working on his castle, and saw him levitating the 9 ton rocks across the ground. What is it that he knew.

Coral Castle is on the National Register of historic places and is truly an amazing place to visit. It can be found South of Miami Florida and West of Key West. Truly a place that I would like to visit some day.

   Thank you for sharing this inspiring story. I saw this a long time ago on television, and could never remember where this was located.

   I, too, plan to visit this place someday. I believe it to be a monument to the power of human will.
