The Neverending Rat Race
Who is under the impression that if you make more money, and then buy more stuff, and drive a bigger car, and live in a larger house, and have an important title at a large company… Then and only Then they will be happy?
This is a common misconception that a lot of people hold to be true. It seems that we constantly focus our attention on these personal goals, thinking it will be better for us and our families.
If you really want a paradigm shift have your child say to you.. “Dad I really appreciate the hard work you do to provide things for us, but I just want to spend time with you and play ball and go to the park” Bam!! right between the eyes! What a wake up call!
At the end of your life what do you want to be known as? A Good provider, who wasn’t around much. or A Good Mother or Dad. Only you can make that decision. But can’t there be a happy medium. In my opinion, and I am only one person, balance is good, but personally I don’t want to look back and say if I would have only __________.
No regrets! Live in the Now! How much of your time is spent making others happy? and how much of your time is spent in the rat race?
The people in our lives enrich us immeasurably, and spending time with the people we love requires only the means to survive from day to day. The rest of life is little more than window dressing. Why waste valuable time chasing after things that we think will make us happy, when the things that will are within our reach every day.
If you had a choice: Would you be wealthy or happy? I can hear it now…. If I was wealthy I would be happy. If that was true we only need to take a look at Hollywood to find the answer to that one.
Steps to getting out of the rat race.
- Make a list of the necessities you need to survive.
- Adapt a minimalist lifestyle.
- Find a job you love to do, and you will never work a day in your life.
- Slow Down.
- Spend max time with the ones you love.
- Spend time doing the things you love.
“The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat.â€
