What Do You Make of Truth

5 senses.jpg Subjective truths are those in which we’re without a doubt acquainted with on a daily basis, ie. you like the color yellow, or the smell of cabbage cooking makes you feel sick to your stomach. Objective truths are items that exist outside of our consciousness independently, ie. seasons change, and the sun will rise and set. Metaphysical subjectivism states that everything in our experiences is entirely subjective, although this doesn’t mean that reality doesn’t exist but that we never actually experience reality first hand.

Let’s take the senses as an example, sight, hearing and touch. none of these are linked to realism; sight is reliant on light waves directing themselves off objects and into the eyes, where the different wavelengths get converted to electrical and chemical impulses in which the brain can decipher.

Hearing on the other hand works through the vibration of the eardrum, therefore vibration can travel through different mediums such as air and water and in each medium the sound frequencies are altered. The brain can decipher the information into fundamentally the same sound, but with different characteristics. It seems strange how the ear can function in different mediums and yet the eye seems to only work with one, perhaps light is plainly the most efficient and convenient method of interpreting vision, although there are light frequencies that are in fact a reality, but we cannot perceive them. ie. infrared spectrum.

Touch is transmitted through the nerve endings in the skin to the brain, very similar to the other senses.

The thing they all have in common is the fact that they all translate one type of data into one in which the brain can understand. There is an exact correlation between this and computing terms, where different protocols in data transmission are converted to one by a router. The key word is ‘translation’ which suggests that the human body is in a way alien to it’s surroundings, why else would it require senses in the first place.

Returning to the original point: we are relying on interpretations of realism, the brain is creating it’s own interpretation of reality continuously, and once this interpretation is in place memories can be stored.

I’m not sure whether consciousness works directly from the sensory data, or the data has to be stored into short-term memory and then ‘realised’ into consciousness, but either way everything we experience is entirely subjective, but the fact that the subjective interpretations are directly induced by sensory information means that objective realism does exist out of our minds, but we will never experience it directly.

Just some things that I have been pondering lately, I think this line of thinking gives an explanation to the term Holographic Universe. I would like to hear the comments from you all on your understandings of this matter. Take Care all.

Charles,

I think…… what you are saying is something I heard
Wayne Dyer speak about. I forget which book of his I was listening to at the time, but he spoke about how we only experience those around us in our thoughts.
That’s the only way we truly know another, by our perceptions of them.

Speaking of the brain and how it interprets, a fascinating book that I have been slowly working my way through is…

Molecules Of Emotion: The Science Behind Mind-Body Medicine by Candace Pert.

Pert is responsible for the discovery of opiate receptors in the brain.

Your Body Is Your Subconscious Mind
by Candace Pert, Ph.D.
“Your brain is not in charge.”

I don’t mind at ALL reading over the deep end. LOL
Maybe I should respond with…..
WOW… interesting, thanks for sharing. :)))

In the future that is now I will respond to something that
might be a little deep, but I am still thrilled to have
read it. okay ? LOL
