Which Mind Are You Using

dorje_phurba_th_2_394_501.jpg We as Humans are all created of the same material and we all have what I like to call a Christ Consciousness, an inner awareness that we are connected with others and our environment, and all living things in this Universe, literally One Mind, or a Singularity if you will.

But a separation occurs as we grow up, we begin to make distinctions and to separate ourselves from the rest of the world. We think that we are a unique being, and no one is quite like us. We trade the Christ Consciousness or Singularity that we are born with for another mind that centers on the small self or the Ego. That self then becomes our number one preoccupation and the Duality is formed.

The small mind always looks at the world from the egos perspective or from the center called “me.” We start to observe the things around us from an egotistical view. Things are assigned labels, and it makes us feel superior over them. The arrow points “out there” so everything else appears to be on the outside. And when we look “out there,” we feel rather empty, unimportant and incomplete “in here.” Naturally want arises; we want to feel better, more complete.

As long as we believe that something outside ourselves can make us feel whole, we will be driven to grasp at things. I call this looking for a higher power (God, Buddha, Allah etc.) outside of ourselves. Dissatisfaction and anxiety will haunt us because we have traded Christ Consciousness and Oneness for a narrow, self-centered one. This unrest is what Jesus called separation. We ignore our wholeness.

The point of spiritual practice is to return to our original mind, which is The Christ Consciousness. Enlightenment! When our mind is not divided (no-duality), there simply is no conflict. We turn our own light inward to find our way back to original mind.

An easy practice that can give us a glimpse into our true nature is to: Take a few minutes to reflect and ask yourself this simple question. “How big is our mind?” Not the physical size of your brain. Really look! Don’t imagine what you think you should find; look for yourself. Can you grasp the size of your mind? No, it is impossible. Can you find a beginning? An end? Can you find a birth or death? No. Anything that you find has been invented by the separated mind or the small mind.

In Christ Consciousness we experience no separation, no inside, no outside, no beginning and no end. Even though we experience this incomprehensible Heart-Mind, our separate and frightened self wants to believe that something bigger than ourselves has everything in control; so we keep looking for God outside of ourselves. It’s the reason you see people going from one religion to the next seeking something, when all they have to do is look inside. The secret known by all the mystics is that God can be found only when we give up our efforts to control and understand our life. Such striving is really unnecessary. When we give up our small perspective and come from Christ Consciousness what is there that we don’t know?

When we look inside at our true nature and really let go, we can come from Christ Consciousness and see that there is no need to control any of it. When we allow everything to just be just as it is, it all functions perfectly, exactly the way we want because we give up wanting it to be any other way. The trick is to let go of wanting and just be!

How easy is it to experience this Christ Consciousness? The question is: How difficult is it to put aside the controlling self? It can take years, or with the right preparation, a few minutes.

Whether you believe in this concept, it does not matter for it will still be just that way, belief or not. Christ Consciousness is your mind. It is truly who we are. Take Care my friends.

Right on Charles Hamel
When a person finally realizes, that their life is only truly meaningful, IF and ONLY IF, it is meaningful to other people as well, then that person can easily shed their overinflated EGO. The closer a person’s EGO gets to zero, the deeper their Christ Consciousness becomes. If a person is so full of themselves, and they think they are so important to the world, maybe they should think about this; Alexander the Great, Ghengis Khan, LBJ, JFK, etc. WHERE ARE THEY NOW??? And, who cares?

Here today, gone tomorrow. In the big scope of things our Ego’s seem to place way to much importance on the physical self, which is here now and gone in the blink of an eye. But to dedicate our lives to working on the betterment of the true self and others around us, is the main focus.

Thanks Norman
