Happiness

I would say that I have been around the block a few times and have worked with people of various ages. I have concluded that happiness has a lot less to do with age, and a lot more to do with attitude. Some young people, no matter how comfortable, or loved, or well-fed, or safe, can be incredibly unhappy. Other people though living in poverty, seem to be grateful for just about everything. Some adults survive horrific childhoods, and come out full of grace and compassion for others. And on the other side of the coin some adults survive horrific childhoods, and go on to commit crimes which render other people’s childhoods equally horrific. A lot of old people come out the other end of this wild and wooly ride called, “Life,†with insight and a keen sense of humor, while others will hit you with their umbrella or knock you over with their shopping cart if you get too close to them. Childhood and adulthood are just the costumes our souls wear. How happy we are really depends on how we see things.
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. Most of us look forward to living many years experiencing happiness and contentment. We hope to live the lives that we have dreamed of—lives that please and delight with simple pleasures. Some people who seem to have nothing are very happy. Some people who seem to have everything are not. Some jet-setters seem happy while some moral crusaders have become miserable old grouches. Happiness seems very unpredictable, inconsistent, irrational. What is it that makes you happy? Money, Love, Travel, Nature. Different things to different people. And those that think , If I could only have …………………………….., then I would be happy. After achieving that desire usually find out they have only obtained an empty vessel. I am very happy, I don’t have much money, but money is not important to me. But what I do have is a wife who loves me, two beautiful children and a roof over my head and food in my stomach. What more do you need?
