Parallel Universe

For many years parallel universes were a great theme for the newest Science Fiction movie. Science fiction writers were always excited to speculate on possible other universes which might exist. In one story, they said, Elvis Presley might still be alive or in another the British Empire might still be going strong. Scientists ignored the subject as babbling of madmen. But now it seems the men were not so mad after all. Parallel universes really do exist and they are much stranger than even the science fiction writers dared to imagine.
It began when superstring theory, hyperspace and dark matter made physicists realize that the three dimensions we thought defined the Universe weren’t enough. There are actually 11 dimensions. By the time they had finished they’d come to the conclusion that our Universe is just one bubble among an infinite number of membranous bubbles which ripple as they wobble through the eleventh dimension.
It is so exciting to think about the possibilities of there being multiple dimensions. Is this where our essence goes back to when our bodies die? Can we actually visit these other dimensions? What do the visualizations that people experience when they have Near Death Experiences (NDE’s) mean? Are we a multiple dimensional being? Is it possible that we might be co-existing on different dimensions.
This subject absolutely fascinates me. I have so many questions that need answering in reference to this subject. What are your thoughts? One person that I love to hear talk about this subject is Dr Michio Kaku, the co founder of string theory. You can find a nice interview with Dr Kaku here on YouTube.
I would like to here your input on this subject. Or if you know of some good sites about this subject, let me know. Take Care all.

There’s an excellent educational movie based on the book of the same, The Elegant Universe, that dwelves into parallel universes. This movie is fantastic at explaining really complicated ideas, such as those found in the theoy of relativity, quantum physics, and string theory, in a way I can understand them. It is definitely worth watching! The book is also good but much harder to get through. I admit I only read about half of my copy.
For writing that strictly addresses parallel universes, check out Fred Alan Wolf’s book Parallel Universes.
BTW, I could be wrong – as much as I’m interested in these ideas I do easily confuse them
– but are you sure the idea of 11 dimensions in string theory is what accounts for parallel universes? I did not think there was a connection. I thought the idea was that “at the beginning of the universe” (whatever that means) all matter was compacted, and within that tiny “ball” was all 11 dimensions, tightly curled together. When matter expanded exponentially (the big bang I presume), the “common” dimensions we know and readily experience expanded with it, but the other dimensions remained teeny tiny.
I believe quantum physics accounts for the many-worlds theory with the idea that at base everything is a probability; the results of which are all indeed real and do take place, but just branching off into other parallel universes simultaneously with all other possible results.
Google “Dr. Quantum video” for a great animated clip of something somewhat related to this idea.
Anyhow, great stuff. Keep reading about it and it’ll really blow your mind.
