Life expectancy

Okinawans have the longest life expectancy of 82.6 years, and on the opposite end of the spectrum Swaziland in South Africa has a life expectancy of 39.6 years.
What’s the deal with life expectancy? Whenever I catch the tv news or read the paper, all the reports about health tend be about extending one’s life. “Eat this, do that, don’t go there, & live longer!â€
Is that really what is important in life? Just live longer and then we’ll be happy? I could go one direction and ask “doesn’t life revolve something else more valuable?†Something more permanent, constant and substantial? But a more concrete direction to go is asking “doesn’t health give us something more satisfying than extended years?†I mean, when someone eats healthier or they make decisions that are healthier, they can’t feel the years being added onto their life. They feel something else…they feel something in the moment, not a future goal…they feel something that can’t be quantified by measurements.
So, life must revolve around something else besides those extra years that can’t ever really be felt along the way. And when you think about it, we aren’t guaranteed anything, not even another day in our life. What does a fulfilled life mean for each of you?
The focus for me seems to be about the process, the quality of our journey. The quality of my life revolves around living true to who I am. The more in line I am with myself, the happier and freer I become. I feel fulfilled as long as I am moving in this direction. Focusing on what I care about most helps keep me in this direction.
Keeping your eye on the path and to continue to advance on that path is such an important way of life. It is a shame that some go through life and never even find the path, let alone travel upwards on it.
