Voice Over IP
Voice over IP (Internet Protocol) is a subject I am very familiar with, having trained 100’s of people on the procedures to install this service. In my opinion it will totally replace the traditional phone service as we know it today, just as cable TV replaced the rabbit ears of yesteryear.
For those of you who do not know what VOIP is, basically in layman’s terms, it is using the Internet as your phone service. And now the question’s I get is what is the advantage of using VOIP vs the traditional telephone.
The biggest advantage is cost! Most VOIP services in the US offer unlimited calling in the continental US and some include Canada and Mexico, all for one set monthly price. No more long distance bills in addition to your phone bill.
One company that is offering an incredible service is Packet8 Internet Phone Service.
There are many types of plans depending on the size of your business. For myself doing local computer repair and cable installs the Virtual Attendant would be perfect for me, it allows small businesses to use the Virtual Attendant as an inbound main number with auto-attendant solution to distribute calls to a series of traditional, home or business, wireless and other virtual office system phones while using these devices to make outbound calls, a. cell phone, b. desk phone, and/or c. home phone, and/or d. another Virtual Office extension.

Not to mention all of this costs only $14.99 a month with a one time $9.99 activation fee, not bad for starter setup.
They also offer Residential service for those who would like to try VOIP service. For only $24.99 a month with your Broadband connection you can get Unlimited calls to US, Canada, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, and calls to land lines in France, Italy, Ireland, Spain and the UK.
Service like VOIP is making the little globe we live on smaller and smaller. For more info on a PBX Phone System check them out.
