Podcast’s
Have you all ever listened to or watched a podcast? I got interested in Podcasts when I received a Apple I-pod for Christmas a little over a year ago. Now you don’t need a I-Pod to enjoy a podcast, you can listen or watch them straight from your computer. For those of you who do not know what a podcast is. Straight from Wikipedia, A podcast is a media file that is distributed by subscription (paid or unpaid) over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.
In other words anyone can record an audio program on any number of subjects and post it for others to listen to. It’s like having your own radio station to talk about anything that you want. Becoming more and more popular is the video podcast, and it is basically the same thing as a audio podcast but you can watch it.
As I write this article the most popular podcast’s according to I-Tunes are “This American Life” brought to you by Chicago public radio, “Comedy Central Stand up Video” from The Comedy Channel, and ESPN’s PTI (pardon the Interruption). Some favorites of mine are “Photoshop TV, “Trehugger TV”, “The Cult of UHF”, and “Diggnation” Photoshop TV is pretty self explanatory, I am a big Photoshop fan, Treehugger TV is environmental news, The Cult of UHF is old B Movies that I used to watch as a kid with the Dry Humor of the host the Right Rev Chumley and last is Diggnation which is a video recap of the most popular stories on Digg.com on a weekly basis.
I ran into a new video podcast called Pod Parody TV. The first episode can be seen at ReFrederator.com and it is entitled “Trying New Things” which is a story about a boy named Pete Harvey trying to get more fun out of life. The story starts off with Pete swimming at the lake with some friends when Ned a business man and his corporation crashes the fun having a picnic at the same lake, some of Pete’s friends join in the picnic and try and talk Pete into joining also, but in the end Pete talks all of his friends into leaving the picnic and swimming together again.
Ok now what the hell was that all about? It did not make sense one bit, and I am not sure what was the worst thing about it, but it had to be a toss-up between the annoying beeping sound between frames, kind of like the radio emergency broadcasting beep, you know the one, if this had been a real emergency you would have received further instructions, or the fake southern accent by the narrator. In fact it kind of sounded like a long lost cousin of the Right Rev Chumley over at the Cult of UHF.
Well if you like torturing yourself go check it out and if not, well have a hot tea and read something that adds to your intelligence instead of draining it. I hear rumors that the second episode will be found over at AskANinja.com, I’m telling you this so you wont accidentally run into it.
I hope everyone has a Great Weekend. And now back to our regularly scheduled program. Take Care!
