Five Fallacies About God
I hope everyone had a Great Christmas. We all had a very good one, it was nice just to be around family. Even though we all live fairly close it seems like no one has the time to get together except for Christmas. I have been reading a book called “The New Revelations” by Neale Donald Walsch, and there was some interesting info that I would like to pass on that I read in the book. I highly recommend the book.
The Five Fallacies About God
1. God needs something - The belief that God needs something from us is the first fallacy. God needs nothing. God requires nothing in order to be happy. God is happiness itself. Therefore, God requires nothing of anyone or anything in the universe. Most religions teach that God is a being in the universe who needs and wants something in order to be happy. Although God is described as the Supreme Being, it is nevertheless true according to most organized religions that under certain experiences and conditions God becomes displeased. This displeasure ultimately turns into anger, and this anger finally produces retribution. In short, God has things He wants you to be, do, and have, and things He does not want you to be, do, and have. These are God’s expectations and requirements, and if they are not met, woe be unto you.
2. God can fail to get what he needs - God is the beginning and end, He can have anything She wants. God gave us freewill and will not interfere with that freewill. But He can have anything he desires.
3. Humans believe that God has separated them from Him because they have not given Her what She needs - In the first place you cannot “get back to God”. This is because you have never left God, and God has never left you. Because we think that we are separated from God, we must try and get back to Her.
4. Humans believe that God still needs what He needs so badly that God now requires them, from their separated position, to give it to Her - God has no need to require anything of you, because He has no need to receive anything from you. And contrary to popular belief, She has no need at all to require you to come to Her in any certain way.
5. Humans believe that God will destroy them or send them to a horrible place if they do not meet His requirements - There is no such thing as reward and punishment in His kingdom. We are limitless without end, we cannot die and will never be condemned to eternal damnation. The boogie man theory was invented by the organized religions.
There are a thousand different religions on earth, and each one has it’s own set of directions reflecting it’s ideas of how God wants it. There is no particular way that God wants you to worship, nor in fact does God need to be worshiped at all.
Gods ego is not so fragile that She must require you to bow down to Her in fearful reverence, or grovel before Him in earnest supplication, in order to find you worthy to receive blessings. What kind of Supreme Being would need to do this? What kind of God would this be?
You have been told that God has made humans in His image and likeness, yet to me it seems that religions have made God in the image and likeness of humans.
