children playing
I spent the day today at Bounce City, which is one of those places that have all of the assorted Moon Walks. My two sons were invited to a Birthday party there. So when we get there the first thing my 7 year old says is come on Dad let’s go jump, so the 42 year old man pulls his shoes off and goes to town. Do you realize how much it takes out of you to jump for about 3 hours? But I loved every minute of it, it is a good feeling that your kids still want to play with you, and also it keeps me young. No other parents were on the equipment jumping except for my wife and I, everyone one else was lining the wall like wallflowers. These are years that you must enjoy, because before long they wont have time for old dad and will be hanging out with their friends.
What it would be like to see the world through their eyes, the wonders of new discoveries to the excitement they feel on Christmas Day. I refuse to work at a job 9-5 and then come home to tired to do anything, plop down on the couch and watch TV until it is time to go to bed, then rinse and repeat. I will not be that person, even if it means living from paycheck to paycheck.
Nothing you do for children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted.
