Happiness is an Attitude

What is the holistic approach to health? Read how our frame of mine can help.

A story I came across that I thought my readers might like. This goes out to everybody especially to the sad ones amongst us…

Enjoy this little story and keep it in mind happiness2

The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with her hair fashionably coiffed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.

“I love it,” she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

“Mrs. Jones, you haven’t seen the room …. just wait.”

“That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” she replied.

“Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged … it’s how I arrange my mind.

I already decided to love it … It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away … just for this time in my life.”

Have a beautiful day!

Hello! I have been one of those sad one’s you were talking about. We have lost my husbands grandparents both of them in 6 monthes. I have felt down lately but, I now see that I should think positive then negative.

Thank you! I wish I could donate because I would!

Blessings,

Hi Renee, I’m sorry for you and your husband’s loss.

But keep in mind that we never die, the containers that we are in just wear out.

The gods conceal from men the happiness of death, that they may endure life.

Morihei Ueshiba, the creator of the martial art Aikido taught the following (this is from a book called ‘The Essence of Aikido’):

“Rise early in the morning to greet the sun. Breathe in and let yourself soar to the ends of the universe; breathe out and bring the cosmos back inside. Next breathe up all the fecundity and vibrancy of the earth. Finally, blend the Breath of Earth with that of your own, becoming the Breath of Life itself. Your body and mind will be gladdened, depression and heartache will dissipate, and you will be filled with gratitude.”

Thanks Dylan!

It is amazing at all the Inspiration that you find in daily life if you just look for it. The sad thing is most people are too busy to stop and smell the proverbial roses.
