Are Our Microwave Ovens Killing Us?
What is the holistic approach to health read what I found out about microwaves.
Are we sacrificing our health for the convenience of heating up leftovers, or heating water for our morning cup of coffee? With over 90% of the homes in the US having a microwave oven, the risk is unfathomable.
The Science of Microwave Ovens
Microwaves are one of the forms of electromagnetic energy, they are similar to radio waves or light waves. Microwaves travel at 186,282 miles per second which is the speed of light. All microwave ovens have a magnetron, which is a tube that electrons are affected by magnetic and electric fields in such a way as to produce micro wavelength radiation at about 2,45 Gigahertz (GHZ).
The way this energy affects objects is that it changes the molecules polarity from positive to negative with each cycle of the wave. As the microwaves that are generated by the magnetron hit the object they cause the polarity of the object to change millions of times a second which creates molecular friction and in turn heats the object up. What a lot of people don’t know is not only do microwaves heat objects up or in this case food or water, but it also causes damage to the surrounding molecules, tearing them apart and forcefully deforming them. The scientific name for this deformation is called structural isomerism.
Microwave Leakage
The first health concern concerning microwave ovens are the leakage of microwaves out of the door. Proper maintenance is very important to assure that the seals around the door are in proper working order. Health Canada has established a regulation that limits the amount of leakage allowed from any microwave oven sold, leased or imported into Canada. The amount of leakage may go above the safe levels if the door does not shut properly or the seals are damaged. Remember all the signs of warnings about pacemakers being around microwaves? If the powers that be are telling us that microwave ovens are safe, it kind of makes you wonder how they are affecting people with pacemakers. How many times have you opened the microwave door before it stopped beeping? Do you know that all of the manuals that come from microwave ovens tell you not to open the door until it is finished beeping. Why is this if they are safe?
Scientific Studies
No one has done more studies on microwave ovens than Russia, after World War II, from 1957 to the present, the research that was carried out came to the following conclusions:
Heating prepared meats in a microwave oven created d-Nitrosodiethanolamine, a well known cancer causing agent.
The creation of cancer causing agents within protein-hydrosylate compounds in milk and cereal grains.
Cancer causing free radicals were formed within certain trace-mineral molecular formations in plant substances, especially in raw root vegetables.
Ingestion of microwaved foods caused a higher percentage of cancerous cells in blood.
Microwaved foods were altered in a way to cause digestive system disorders.
Those eating microwaved foods showed a higher incidence of stomach and intestinal cancers, plus a degeneration of peripheral cellular tissues.
As the result of these studies microwave ovens were banned in Russia in 1976; the ban was lifted after Perestroika in the late 80’s.
This study done at the University of California at the Davis Medical Center learned that diethylhexyladeptate or (DEHA), considered a carcinogen, is found in plastic wrap, and that the FDA had never studied the effect of microwave cooking on plastic wrapped food. With the help of Dr John Wilkes at the National Center for Toxicology Research tests were done on plastic wrap in olive oil. There were four different plastic wraps tried in the tests and the results were frightening. Not only were the carcinogens found in the plastic wrap but also xenoestrogen was migrating into the oil. Xenoestrogen’s are linked to low sperm counts in men and breast cancer in women, also DEHA was migrating to the oil also at 200-500 parts per million. The FDA standards are 0.05 parts per billion.
There have been numerous warnings to mothers about putting the baby bottles in the microwaves because of the uneven heating of the milk, what might feel lukewarm to the touch on the outside might be scalding on the inside and put the infant at risk of being scalded, not to mention what might leak into the milk from the plastic bottles.
In 1991, a lawsuit in Oklahoma concerning a hospitals use of a microwave oven to warm blood needed for a transfusion. The case involved a surgery patient, Norma Levitt, who died from a simple blood transfusion. It seems the nurse heated the blood up in a microwave to bring it to the proper temp for a transfusion which killed the patient. The microwaves changed the blood in a way that the body could not use it. So ask yourself the foods that you heat up in a microwave, how is it being changed? And what are the effects it is having on your body, it is just not known.
From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research:
Humans cannot metabolize the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.
Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little to no benefits from eating.
Minerals in vegetables are transformed to cancerous free radicals in microwave ovens.
Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal tumors. Could explain the rapidly increasing rate of colon cancer in the US.
Prolonged ingestion of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.
Ok enough with the scientific studies, if that don’t convince you nothing will, but to leave you with some interesting results and also something you can try on your own, take two plants fairly identical for testing purposes, give one regular water, then microwave some water until its hot then let it cool and give it to the other plant, can you guess what happens? If you can’t I will leave you with some pictures from a home experiment that was done just as I described.
