Have you ever been thinking of a certain person and then minutes later your phone rings and the person you were thinking about is on the other end of the line? How about while driving your car, you get a feeling that you shouldn’t go a certain way but you go anyways and run into a traffic jam.

It’s that little voice or feeling that you hear or feel that is your inner spiritual self giving you advice on things you should do, or nudges in certain directions. The problem though is that most people do not listen to that little voice and usually end up paying a price, which is usually not a good one.

What is Intuition

Intuition is defined as immediate apprehension by the mind without reasoning, a gut feeling. Intuition is true knowledge, the language of our soul, it leads us on the right path. Intuition is our Inner guidance, freedom and a portion of enlightenment. Intuition will steer you away from a harder path and guide you to a more joyful one.

Often intuition will come to you as subtle thoughts, feelings or sensations that you will barely notice until later when you will look back and realize, Wow I knew that was going to happen or I had a feeling that was going to take place, and that’s where most of us stand when it comes to intuition. We have to learn to listen and take heed to those feelings and act upon them before the event takes place. The more you listen and use your intuition the stronger it will become. When we are centered, present and focused, we become more fully aware of the things that are going on around us, and also what is going on within us. Intuition affects all of us, everyday of our lives. I don’t know about you, but I do not believe in coincidences, I believe everything happens for a purpose, it’s just a matter if you are developed enough to understand what the so called coincidences are trying to tell you.

Developing your Intuition

When we develop our intuition we become more serene and healthy. We intuitively know which foods, what work, and what relationships are right for us. Everyone has the ability of intuition, children draw upon their intuition quite frequently, although they often receive information to the contrary from parents or their peers and then began to doubt the messages they are receiving. Once doubt sets in we loose trust in the little voices in the back of our mind or the gut feelings we get, the trust in the validity of the information starts to shut down. We will continue to receive intuitive information, but ignore or disregard them. When we do not act upon this intuitive information our ability to hear them often fades and we miss valuable knowledge. We will never loose the ability to be intuitive, with a little patience and work we have the ability to rediscover this ability.

Steps to developing your Intuition

The first step is to make up your mind that you want to develop your intuition and you will be 65% of the way to your goal already. Making up your mind will already tune your consciousness into paying more attention to the little voices or the gut feelings.

Meditation – take a class in meditation or join a meditation group, meditation connects sensors in our brain and opens us up to other psychic abilities. It is like opening a door that has been sealed shut for a very long time, there are plenty of instructions, Books and articles on the Internet on how to meditate. You don’t have to take a lot of time doing this, even a few minutes a day will start the process.

Think positive – Thoughts are things! Why cloud your mind with negativity? You see people like this everyday at the grocery store, in your neighborhood, at your job, you know the person, always complaining about one thing or another, always looking at the negative side of things instead of the positive. Things you can do to help you along is look for positive people and associate with them, Keep a list of goals with you at all times, believe in yourself, Don’t sweat over the small things, Life is too short to live your life miserable.

When you are faced with a big decision, let go of all your preconceived notions, go to a quiet place and just listen to your thoughts, don’t dwell on individual thoughts, or try and rationalize where the information is coming from just let them flow and listen.

Don’t expect certain outcomes or certain answers because this will override and cloud the true intuitive thoughts from coming through clearly. Ask questions in your mind, as in prayer and sleep on it, answers do not always come right away, give it a little time and the answer will come to you, it might not be the answer you wanted, but it will be the right one.

Listen and believe in the first impressions, usually that first thought that pops into your head is the correct one, all others after that are just there to cloud the true answer. When you meet a person for the first time and you just get a strange feeling or you don’t feel comfortable around them, chances are they are hiding something or are dishonest. Beware!

Try to remain Positive and Happy – this is like having an open door for the cool breeze to come in, having a negative mind or being depressed or Sad will totally close off the door and will stagnate the intuitive process.

Listening to your Intuition will lead to an easier life, and will open up new opportunities and place you in contact with people you might not otherwise meet. Numerous lives have been saved by listening to intuition, the stories are everywhere. So what are you waiting for? Start this process and be the person that others will describe as; Lucky, Always in a good mood, things always go their way.

   Great article, I have recently started listening to my Intuition. It helped me on a descision to move to another country. I basically asked a question whether I should or shouldn’t move before I went to bed. The next day I got laid off from my job and an old acquaintance called that I have not heard from in over a year. I told him what had happened at work, and his comment was well now would be a good time to go to that other country you always wanted to move to, It about floored me. So I have started making the arrangements to move. If you need an answer just ask.

   I agree that forming a relationship with one’s intuition is an extremely rewarding endeavor. But I would only hazard to speculate the reasons for intuition to exist in the first place, or even to place certain meaning on the outcome. You use as example the avoiding the traffic jam. That I ended up in a traffic jam would not necessarily tell me that I listened ‘poorly,’ rather that being in the traffic jam was the right place for me to be.

   But I agree that joy is the result. That’s the way I decide whether or not I chose intuitively… I am so happy with the decision.

   Also, it makes me uncomforable to think that someday I’ll have the reasons. Maybe someday I will, but for now it seems just as likely that meaning is based entirely on what we decide to be meaningful. I like that idea because all of a sudden there are no wrong answers. There are not even any ‘less expedient answers, simply an ever-expanding network of relationships and meaning, all of which we are the sole author.

   What’s your take on that? I’d like to hear more.

   I like to deal only with my subconscious and only manipulate the info that comes out, whether pictorial or in words. I find that my other thoughts and feelings are already factored in subconsciously so I don’t even have to think about them.

   Any bias coming between me and my subconscious just bungs up the natural process of the brain. I see my mind as the calculator and I only have to manipulate and understand the intuitive significance of the picture logic and the underlying pictures of the word output. The subconscious can handle so much more than the conscious mind that any other form of thought seems silly most of the time, except for little detailed stuff. That’s how we will think in the future. The pictures and the words have symbolic meaning. And it is the positive side of the brain. The left side is negative. I would like someone to try it and give me some feedback, because I want to start a serious movement to develop this into an intuitive fine art.  I do some serious thinking with data from the subcoscious, but I put it back in for checking rather than vice versa. I just say, I don’t get this or what are some examples. Basically I serve the right brain. He who would lead should serve. That is the intuitive meaning of that saying. That is the deep meaning that the western mind just doesn’t get. But day of the cowboy is over. They are hireing poets and MFA’s in business not, for instance. What we invent or develop is the only product we have in this the Conceptual Age, not my term.

   I have no idea how many other people are working on this, but you might refer them to my site if you know anyone. It is truly world changing and that is an under estimation or I wouldn’t take up so much space.

   Thank you. I hope this is as big and universal as I think. I have these grandiose visions. I think it is because the subconscious thinks big and I think it delivers also. I just don’t know if I’m up for a worldwide movement. I suppose others are well along and I can help. I only have a links button and no links visible, but maybe that might be a resource. Someday?
